Roche is now marketing Tasmar (tolcapone) for Parkinson's. It'll be used with levodopa...for advanced Parkinson's.

Tasmar is the first drug in a new class...COMT inhibitors.

COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase) is an enzyme that metabolizes levodopa to an INACTIVE metabolite. Blocking this enzyme increases the half-life of levodopa and prolongs its effect.
