Valcyte is absorbed better than Cytovene...then it's metabolized to the active antiviral that's in Cytovene.

Using Valcyte as a prodrug to enhance ganciclovir levels is analogous to using Valtrex (valacyclovir) as a prodrug for acyclovir.
