CDC now recommends giving pertussis vaccine (Tdap) to SENIORS

Please see updated recommendations for use of Tetanus Toxoid, Reduced Diphtheria Toxoid, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine in adults aged 65 Years and older

CDC now recommends giving pertussis vaccine (Tdap) to SENIORS... and no longer recommends waiting 2 years after the last tetanus shot.

Tdap (Adacel, Boostrix) was originally recommended just for adults UNDER 65...and older adults got the regular tetanus shot (Td).

But older adults are also at risk for getting pertussis...and they can pass it on to their grandchildren or other infants who are more at risk for severe illness.
