Watch for Solosec for Bacterial Vaginosis
Solosec (SOH-loh-sec, secnidazole) will try to compete with metronidazole for treatment of bacterial vaginosis.
Solosec will be promoted as just one oral dose...and not causing a disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol. It comes as a packet of granules.
But it costs $270...and isn't more effective than a 7-day course of oral metronidazole, which costs less than $10.
