Include Directions for Oral Liquid Meds in “mL”

You’ll see a continued push to eliminate NONmetric dosing units (teaspoons, tablespoons, etc) on Rxs for oral liquid medications.

For years, pharmacy and safety organizations (Institute for Safe Med Practices, etc) have been recommending that Rx labels for liquid meds include dosing directions in “mL” as the standard unit of measure.

That’s because confusion between teaspoons (tsp) and tablespoons (tbsp)...or teaspoons and mL...can lead to dangerous errors.
