Many headache sufferers don't realize that frequent use ofanalgesics can actually make their headaches WORSE.
As little as 1,000 mg/day of aspirin or acetaminophen can leadto rebound headaches. Headaches can also be worsened by frequent useof ergotamine...caffeine...opioids...butalbital...and sumatriptan.
The only way to stop this vicious cycle is to stop the painrelievers...but it's not easy. The headaches usually get worsebefore they get better. It takes several weeks for an improvement.
